Bogalusa competed in cross country meet on Oct. 1

Two Bogalusa runners competed in the 2022 Country Day Cajun Classic on Oct. 1 in City Park in New Orleans.

Chiqueria Jefferson came in 80th with a time of 33 minutes, 40 seconds.

Cierra Gibson was 83rd in 37:13.

Ursuline Academy’s Sophia Freeze won the meet after running the race in 20:12.

John Curtis’ Miley Percle was second at 20:24, followed by Metairie Park Country Day’s Marygrace De la Cruz’s 20:31 and Pearl River Central’s Hannah Mitchell’s 20:34. Metairie Park Country Day’s Raine Goldenberg had a time of 20:38 to round out the top five in a field of 83.

Metairie Park Country Day won the team portion of the meet with 23 points.

Teams needed five runners to qualify for team honors.

Ursuline Academy was second with 72 points, followed by Hahnville’s 94, Cabrini’s 105 and Chalmette’s 130 points rounded out the top five among the nine teams that qualified for points.

Bogalusa’s next meet will be Oct. 15 at St. Thomas Aquinas.
