Calvin Emanuel Brown was born on Nov. 10, 1944, to the parents of Anderson and Rosie Lee Brown. He departed this earthly life on Sept. 27, 2022.

Calvin was a very giving and loving soul. He would go out his way for those he loved.

Calvin was a member at Harry’s Chapel in Mitchell City for many years. He was a member of the choir.

Calvin graduated from Amite High School in 1964. He enlisted in the U.S. Army that same year, serving three years. He was a Vietnam Veteran with many accomplishments while he served.

He will be truly missed by family and friends. He leaves to cherish his memories: one sister, Cleta Lee of Rochester, N.Y.; a daughter, Marilyn Singleton of Tacoma, Wash.; a special cousin, Rosie Bridges of Bogalusa; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Anderson and Rosie Lee Brown; two brothers, Alvin C. Brown and Anderson Brown Jr.; five sisters, Amanda Brown Smith, Marcelle Smith, Clementine Ratliff, Brenda Bronssard and Marjorie Jefferson; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Viewing will be on Friday, Oct. 7, at Harry’s Chapel United Methodist Church from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m. with Rev. Robinson officiating.
