Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 29, at Carson Springs Baptist Church in Sandy Hook, Miss., for Emma “Lucille” Thomas, the wife of Hilmon J. Thomas, Jr., 82, of Sandy Hook. Lucille passed away Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2022. Interment was at Carson Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Sandy Hook. The Rev. Archie Herrin, the Rev. Harold Gaddy, and the Rev. Eddie Henson officiated the services. Visitation was held from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 28, and again from 10 a.m. up until service time on Thursday, Sept. 29, at Carson Springs Baptist Church.

Lucille was a life-long member of the Improve community of Sandy Hook. She spent her life devoted to her husband of 59 years, up until his death. She loved to spend quality time with her family and grandchildren. A very well known floral designer, Lucille used her talents and creativity to serve her community and the surrounding areas. She was a faithful member of Carson Springs Baptist Church for over 65 years, as well as a member of the Eastern Star in Tylertown, Miss. She was also known far and wide for her amazing Crunchy Top Pound Cake. She will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hilmon John Thomas Jr.; her father, William Day Phillips; her mother, Essie P. Phillips; one brother, William O. Phillips; five sisters, Eula Duncan, Nelda Knight, Eleanor R. Phillips, Ollie Corkern and Madge Ladner; and her step-father, Dwight Beard.

She is survived by her three sons, John Thomas (Tammy), Todd Thomas (Angie), and Jeff Thomas (Laura); one daughter, Sabrina Henson (Eddie); one brother-in-law, Elton Miley; four grandsons, Drew Thomas (Nicole), Duran Thomas, Josh Thomas and Reed Henson; eight granddaughters, Ashley Thomas (Derwood), Shellie Thomas, Kayla Rainer (Joey), Vanessa Lomas (Matthew), Anna Thomas (Daniel), Whitney Henson (Adam), Annsley Thomas (Alex) and Emily Henson (Bo); five step- grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Kenny Thomas, Terry Thomas, Jerry Thomas, Wendall Stogner, Elton Miley, Brody Burnthorn, Matthew Lomas and Daniel Little.
