Richard Paul Williams Sr., 84, passed away peacefully in his home Thursday, Sept. 22, 2022.

Richard was born May 4, 1938, in Georgetown, Miss., to his late parents, Clyde Willis and Bertie Mae Seal Williams, and was a long-time resident of Angie. Richard worked for International Paper for 44 years as a Pipefitter and enjoyed many years of happy retirement. Everyone in the Paper Mill had a nickname and Richard’s was Rah Rah. Richard spent lots of time in the community checking on people that could not get out and enjoyed spending time on his tractor.

Richard is survived by his wife, Mary Margaret Singley Williams of 62 years. Richard is also survived by three sons, Dewayne Williams and wife Charlene of Angie, Michael Williams and wife Marcy of Cary, N.C., Richard P. Williams Jr. and wife Sarah of Angie, and a nephew he treated as one of his sons, Brandon Singley and wife Gwen of Madisonville. Richard had four granddaughters, Christi McMillan and husband Scott of Angie, Kellie Case and husband Tony of Bogalusa, Vivian Williams of Angie, and Rosemary Williams of Cary; and two grandsons, Jacob Williams of Angie, and Nicholas Williams of Cary. Richard was also blessed with four great-grandsons, Andy and Ian McMillan of Angie and Will and Sam Case of Bogalusa. Additionally, he is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Richard was preceded in death by three brothers, Jerald Williams and wife Evelyn, Ancel Williams and wife Evelyn and Billy Clyde Williams. He is survived by his brother, Ray Williams and wife Kay. Richard was preceded in death by three sisters, Annie Mae Williams Toney, Faye Adams, and Melba Darcé and husband Ralph. He is also survived by sister-in-law, Betty Williams, and brother-in-law, George Adams.

A special thanks goes out to St. Tammany Hospital Hospice, who provided outstanding care for the past three months. Richard had a special nurse, Donna Warren, who went above and beyond her duties in a way we would have never expected.

Visitation was held on Monday, Sept. 26, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. in the chapel of Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home in Bogalusa. The funeral began at 1 p.m. and Brother Kelly Penton officiated the services. Burial was in the Seal Cemetery at Varnado. Pallbearers were George Adams, Louis Adams, Ricky Williams, David Williams, Jacob Williams and Scott McMillan.
