The fourth annual Gator Tail 5K Trail Run will take place on Saturday, Oct. 29, at Northshore Technical Community College and Tamanend in Lacombe.

This family-friendly, in-person event is open to the public and proceeds will support student scholarships. The Gator Tail is a trail run that will take runners over a variety of terrain on the NTCC campus and the beautiful Tamanend Community. Prizes will be awarded in several categories, including the “Community Spirit” award from title sponsor Tamanend, and prizes for the 10-and-under runners who compete in the half-mile Gator Gallop.

“The fourth annual Gator Tail 5K Trail Run is an opportunity for our local running and walking community to experience the beautiful scenery of Tamanend while raising money for the Northshore College Enhancement Foundation’s scholarship program,” said Dr. Jim Carlson, Vice Chancellor of Strategic Initiatives. “We want to invite everyone to come out to see what is going on at NTCC’s Lacombe Campus to enjoy this exciting event.”

“For the fourth consecutive year, Tamanend is proud to serve as the title sponsor of the Annual Gator Tail 5k Trail Run. This event is significant not only for student scholarships; it is also an opportunity for participants and spectators to learn more about NTCC’s outstanding commitment to our parish’s education and workforce needs,” said Rose Fagler, Weyerhaeuser Economic Development Manager. Weyerhaeuser is the developer of Tamanend.

“One of the missions of the Northlake-Mandeville Rotary Club is to reach out into the community and to participate in projects where there is a need, like NTCC’s Gator Tail 5k Trail Run,” said club president Martin Audiffred. “The club’s involvement in the event will provide leadership, mentoring, and financial assistance to the students so they will be successful and they in turn will understand the value of service to their community.”

The title sponsor for the Gator Tail is Tamanend. Other sponsors include Champagne Beverage, Northlake-Mandeville Rotary, and NTCC’s Student Government Association.

Registration is $25 for adults, $20 for 10 to 15 year olds, and $10 for little gators under 10 years. Team discounts are available. Adult registration increases to $30 after Friday, Sept. 30.
