Pine is heading to Pope John Paul II to play in a three-team scrimmage that also features Pointe Coupee on Friday.

“We want to get a lot of guys a lot of reps,” Pine coach Bradley Seal said. “We’ve got some guys that are kind of borderline on how much playing time they’re going to get in the season and we’ve got to figure out what each player can do.”

Seal talked about playing in a scrimmage with multiple opponents.

“You get more looks offensively, but at this point, the main thing is to focus on ourselves and make sure we’re playing good fundamentals,” Seal said.

The scrimmage will start with Pope John Paul II playing Catholic of Pointe Coupee. Pine will take the field for the next contest against Catholic of Pointe Coupee before Pine and Pope John Paul II wrap things up.

Each game will be 30 plays with each team’s first-string offense and defense running 15 plays each.

The second stringers will run 16 plays with eight on offense and defense each. Each game will end with special teams work.
