Bogalusa’s Sims makes 2nd-team all-district in softball

Bogalusa had one player make the second team in the softball District 8-3A league.

Bogalusa outfielder Shavontae Sims is a second-team all-district player for the 2022 season.

Three more Lady Jacks are all-district honorable-mention.

Ray Diamond, McKinley Phillips and Lia Norman are all-district honorable-mention players.

Archbishop Hannan’s Cheyenne Jenkins is the league’s Most Valuable Player and her coach Becky Lambert is the Coach of the Year. Jenkins made the first team at outfield.

This season, Archbishop Hannan captured the Division II state title.

Archbishop Hannan’s Amelia Marea and Albany’s Brilee Ford are the first-team pitchers and Loranger’s Mikayla Watts and Jewel Sumner’s Leslie Warner are the catchers.

The infielders are Archbishop Hannan teammates Kristen Wegener and Emma Burke along with Loranger’s Mia Piller, Albany’s Camdyn Cooper and Jewel Sumner’s Kadyn Schenk.

Besides Jenkins, the outfield has Jewel Sumner’s Sara Fowler, Albany’s Lily Arabie and Loranger’s Olivia Gottschalck.

The utility players are Jewel Sumner’s Ava Daniels and Albany’s Jenna Chauvin.

Moving to the second team, the pitcher is Jewel Sumner’s Alana Fussell with Archbishop Hannan’s Sydnie Ferrant at catcher.

The infielders are Albany’s Madison Clemente, Archbishop Hannan’s Avery Bowers, Loranger’s Jordan Young and Jewel Sumner teammates Jamie Travis and Jordan Allen.

Besides Sims, the outfielders are Archbishop Hannan’s Avery Boudreaux and Albany teammates Sydni Griffith and Erica O’neal.

The utility player is Loranger’s Lauren Clements.

Besides Diamond, Phillips and Norman, the all-district honorable-mention players are Albany teammates Emma Rogers and Taylor Williams, Archbishop Hannan’s Maddie Garrett and Brianna Baldwin, Jewel Sumner’s Macy Chauvin and Matelyn Titus and Loranger’s Destiny Hulin.

Albany made it to the regional round of the Class 3A playoffs before being defeated by quarterfinalist South Beauregard.

Jewel Sumner made it to the regional round, but was defeated by quarterfinalist Lutcher, 7-1.

Loranger made it to the bi-district round of the playoffs, but was defeated by St. James, which made it to the regional round, 4-2.
