On Wednesday, the Louisiana Department of Education held a press conference to announce that Louisiana students and schools showed strong improvements on the 2021-2022 state tests, LEAP 2025.

Scores were up throughout the state three points in math and English for students in grades 3 through 8, with 80 percent of school systems improving their mastery rates.

“After the impact of a global pandemic and two of the strongest hurricanes in our state’s history, Louisiana’s students are back on their feet,” State Superintendent Cade Brumley said. “K-12 education is on the rise in Louisiana because we kept schools open, strategically allocated resources and developed innovative solutions to recover and accelerate student learning.”

The Bogalusa City School District was invited to the press conference to be recognized as one of 10 districts showing the highest one-year growth — 3 percent — in Mastery and above scores in LEAP 2025 for the 2021-2022 school year.

Lisa Tanner, Superintendent for the Bogalusa City School District, along with BCS Directors Deloris Walker and Karla McGehee, traveled to Prairieville to Bluff Middle School for the press conference.

“We are elated about the news that our students in Bogalusa City Schools have attained such a distinction in our state,” Tanner said. “Our teachers and students have worked diligently to move our students academically through expectations and professional development in curriculum that works to educate our students.

“We are so proud of our administrators, central office administration, faculty, staff, and students at all of our schools, and we are excited about the future.”
