Final arrangements have been made for Bro. Amos “Moochie” Peters Sr. Visitation will be Friday, Aug. 5, from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. at Cook-Richmond Funeral Home in Bogalusa. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug. 6, at 2 p.m. at New Zion Missionary Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Linza Rae Cotton, pastor/officiant. Interment will be in Harry Cemetery in Angie. Cook-Richmond Funeral Home of Bogalusa will be in charge of arrangements. Masks are required.

Amos “Moochie” Peters Sr. passed away on July 28, 2022, at his residence in Varnado, at the age of 61. He was the fourth child born to Mr. Willie B. Peters Sr. and Mrs. Jessie Mae Newson Peters at the Washington St. Tammany Charity Hospital in Bogalusa on Aug. 16, 1960.

Amos was a member of the Greater Center Baptist Church in Angie, since childhood. He was baptized under the leadership of the late Rev. Linwood Bolton Sr. and continued his membership until his death under the leadership of Pastor Sidney Jones.

He attended elementary school at the Wesley Ray High School in Angie. In 1974-1975 the schools consolidated, and he attended Angie Jr. High School in his eighth-grade school year. He attended Varnado High School as a freshman in the 1975-1976 school year and graduated with the awesome Varnado High School Class of 1979.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Crissy Samantha Peters; his parents, Willie B. and Jessie Mae Newson Peters; and his maternal grandparents, Rev. Jesse Isadore (Lillie McFarland) Newson.

He leaves to cherish his memories: a devoted loving and caring wife, Odessa Foster Peters; and to honor his legacy three children — two sons, Brian K. Smith of Sandy Hook, Miss., and Amos (Margie) Peters Jr. of Sumrall, Miss., and a daughter, Fredericka Lewis of Angie; his bonus family, a daughter, Ursela (Dr. Dennis) Daniels of Woodbridge, Va., and a son, Ray Pack Jr. of Varnado; his siblings, Elder Robert Wayne (Annie Ruth) Peters, Willie B. (Kathy)Peters Jr., his sister, Annie Pearl (Eugene) Allen, all of Angie, and his youngest brother, Drice Peters of Garland, Texas; 12 grandchildren, Lakeedra D. Smith, Empriss Baham, Kelton Peters, Alexander Peters, Rodney Holmes Jr., Ra’Nhyia Lewis, Sa’Nhyi Lewis, Dennis Daniels Jr., Christian Daniels, Laila Daniels, Raeghan Pack and Elise Pack; a very special daughter-in-love, Elizabeth Owens Pack; his aunt, Margie Newson of Converse, Ga.; a devoted brother-in-law, Levon Harry Sr. of Varnado; a special niece, Sylvia Nelson of Varnado; a special great-niece, Tede’Schi Allen of Angie; a special great-nephew, Brock Jackson of Hammond; his very supportive sisters-in-law, the Foster Sisters; his best friend, Angel Lois (Rev. Nolan) Robinson of Varnado; and his best friend, Will (Rozuanda) Youngblood of Angie; his god-son, Charles “C.J.” Smoot Jr. of Varnado; his Varnado High School Class of 1979 classmates; and he is also survived by a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
