Bogalusa rapper Javorius Scott, a.k.a. JayDaYoungan, was killed Wednesday night following a shooting in Bogalusa, and another victim was also injured, according to reports from the Bogalusa Police Department.

Officials said that the BPD received a call about a shooting in the 600 block of Superior Avenue at approximately 5:50 p.m. Wednesday. Officers responded and found that one victim had been transported by a personally owned vehicle to the Our Lady of the Angels Hospital emergency room. Another victim, while still on scene, was critically wounded and treated on scene by EMS, officials said.

Later Wednesday, BPD officials identified the victims as Scott, 24, and a “close family member,” Kenyatta Scott Sr. The BPD reported that Javorius Scott died from his injuries, and Kenyatta Scott Sr. was in “stable condition.”

BPD officials noted that detectives were conducting interviews and working leads, and further information would be released as it became available.

Vehicle also hit by gunfire Wednesday

A second shooting took place Wednesday shortly after 7 p.m. in the 800 block of Marshall Richardson Road, according to BPD officials.

In that incident, a vehicle was shot — possibly related to the first shooting. The occupants were not hit. Detectives are also actively working that crime scene.

Officials noted that this is a very fluid situation and the information the BPD can release is limited at this time. Several outside agencies are also assisting.
