At the request of American Legion Post 24, Washington Art Association (WAA) volunteers and a guest repainted the military insignia on the brick wall near the flagpole just past the Ponemah Cemetery.

This task was performed by the WAA five years ago but needed to be freshened again before Memorial Day.

Five ladies gathered on a hot and humid morning to fulfill the request and completed the job shortly after noon. The painters appreciated and were encouraged by some members of the American Legion who stopped by periodically to offer water and some shade.

Members of the WAA and a guest painter are shown at the military insignia wall. They are, left to right, Terry Seal, Kay McElveen, Laurie Bell, Lenora Frazier and Violeta Thomas.
