Jean Jones, age 74 and a resident of the Pine/Thomas Community, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, June 2, 2022 at her home after a lengthy illness. She was a longtime member of Crain’s Creek Missionary Baptist Church that loved working in her yard and tending to her flowers. Jean enjoyed watching baseball games and other sporting events and she loved cooking for her friends and family, especially her delicious chili.
She was survived by: son: Brent Jones of the Pine/Thomas Community; special nephew and niece: Jeff and Misty Jones of Ennis, Texas; special niece and great niece: Shannon Magee and Kacie Reid; sisters-in-law: Shirley Thomas; Elouise Jones; Hazel Jones all of Thomas; special aunt, Bernice Seals of Dexter; special friends whom mom considered daughters and son; Ashley Mandela and Josh and Angela Spears and their children, whom mom loved more than life itself, MaKayla, Joshlyn and Kylie Spears. They were a constant source of joy and happiness. Numerous other nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years former Sheriff Aubrey Jones; her father Clyde McNeese, mother and step-father Golda McNeese Penton and Elton “Red” Penton; father in law and mother in law Marvin Jones and Gertrude Crain Jones; sisters in laws and brothers in law; Margie and Adnell Magee, Eloise and Kenny Lee, Clearmenthia and Joby Magee, Doris and J.E. “Big Boy” Magee; sisters in law Paulette Phelps, Joyce McDonald; brothers in law Eldridge Jones, Elvin Jones, Kenneth Jones, Hunter Jones, Charles Sullivan, Phillip Thomas; brother in law and sister in law Malloy and Nell Jones; Special Aunt Helen Branch and two special german shepherds: Rock and Roll. The family extends the most sincere thanks and appreciation to her dedicated and faithful caregivers; Cheryl McLaurin; Bernice Crain and Mandy Smith.
Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home on Sunday, June 5 from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. and after 10 a.m. on Monday. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 2 p.m. on Monday with Eld. Doyle Ball, Eld. Duane Ball and Bro. Josh Spears officiating. Burial will follow in the Crain’s Creek Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Charles Brumfield, Byron Brumfield, Mason Inabnitt, Josh Spears, Brent Goings and Bo Money.
Honorary pallbearers are Sheriff Randy Seal, Johnny Ray Spears, Judge David Merlin Duke, Thailyr Spears, Byron Spears, Bryan Jones and Marvin Jones.
