Larry Pernell Roberts Sr. was the youngest son born to the late Hersey L. Roberts and Roxie Anna Roberts on May 26, 1963. He departed this abundant life on May 14, 2022, at the age of 58.

Larry graduated from Varnado High School in 1982, where he was an avid football player. Larry was a self-employed Mechanic and Carpenter. Larry was well versed in the kitchen, best known for his amazing German chocolate cake. Larry’s passion for softball led him to organize dozens of tournaments in his community. He was a dedicated friend that was known and loved by many lives that he touched throughout his life.

Larry’s ability to connect with others was unmatched and had a profound impact on the lives of many. The countless lives that he has touched is a true testament of his character. Larry met no stranger, but was a friend to many, and for this reason he will truly be missed.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his loving and devoted children, Aquanis Roberts Sr. of Bogalusa, Tiawanna (Rodney) Dunn of Alamogordo, N.M., Marcus White of Atlanta, Ga., Lakeisha Lee of Slidell, La’Darrus Brister of Angie, Tia Roberts-Thomas (Deonte) of Baton Rouge, Larry Roberts Jr. of Bogalusa, and Pattie Roberts of Bogalusa; siblings, Willie H. Roberts Sr. of Pride, Hersey Lee (Gloria) Roberts Jr. of Angie, Maxine (James) Giles of Lufkin, Texas, the Rev. Gaynell (Donald Ray) Nichols of Angie, Kenneth (Clorinda) Roberts Sr. of Bogalusa, Oliver Roberts of Angie, Michael Roberts Sr. of Lufkin, and Lucretia (Kenneth) Pope of Huntsville, Ala.; brother-in-law, Douglas Jones of Angie; 22 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hersey Lee Roberts Sr. and Roxie Anna Roberts; sisters, Charlene Roberts, Nellie Goodloe and Bernell R. Jones; and brother, Vernice Roberts.

Visitation will be Monday, May 23, from 10 a.m. to time for the service at 11 a.m. The funeral service will be Monday, May 23, at 11 a.m. at Live Oak U.M.C. in Angie. The Rev. Terrence August will be officiating. Burial will be in Live Oak U.M.C. Cemetery.
