On Saturday, shortly after 11 p.m., troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop L began investigating a one vehicle fatal crash on Louisiana Highway 440, near Louisiana Highway 450, in Washington Parish. The crash claimed the lives of Pamela Brown, 31, of Kentwood, and Jaquan Brown, 16, of Kentwood.

For reasons still under investigation, the Hyundai traveled off of the roadway to the right. After leaving the roadway, the Hyundai struck an embankment then began to overturn before striking two trees.

There were three unrestrained juveniles in the vehicle, all of whom sustained serious injuries, Hugging said. They were transported to area hospitals.

Impairment is suspected to be a factor in this crash. A toxicology sample was obtained for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.
