Ben’s Ford athletes competed at Class 3A state meet

Ben’s Ford Christian School had several athletes compete in the Class 3A state meet that was held on Friday and Saturday at Jackson Academy.

The field events and the 3,200 meters were held on Friday, while the rest of the running events were Saturday.

In the boys, Caleb Matthews came in fifth place in the 800 with a time of 2 minutes, 32 seconds. Greenville Christian School’s Rashud Brown won in 2:10.

Ben’s Ford’s 4×400, 4×200 and 4×100 relay teams were fifth, sixth and seventh, respectively with times of 4:40, 2:07 and 58.3 seconds. The 4×400 group included Ethan Norwood, Matthews, Jacob Robichaux and Sam Talley. The 4×200 team had Norwood, Caden Pajak, Matthews and Robichaux. The 4×100 team featured Norwood, Pajak, Matthews and Talley.

Robichaux was sixth in the 400 with a time of 1:08. Porters Chapel Academy’s Daniel Llopis won in 53.17.

In the girls, Avery Dantin ran fifth and and seventh for the 3,200 and 1,600 with times of 15:32 and 6:59. Benton Academy’s Lindsey Houge won both races, clocking in at 5:46 for the 1,600 and 12:40 in the 3,200.

Delaney Perrette was sixth in the 100 in 15.08. North Sunflower Academy’s Rihanna Love is the champ after a time of 12.88.

In order to reach the state meet, athletes had to come in the top four in district and then in South State.

Matthews won in district and was second at South State.

Ben’s Ford’s relay teams all were second in district with the 4×400 relay team coming in second at South State and the 4×100 and 4×200 fourth at South State.

Robichaux was second at district and third at South State.

Dantin came in first for the 1,600 and third in the 3,200 in district and she won both at South State.

Perrette was second in district and she won in South State.
