Walker B. “Bucky” Smith IV, 43, passed away on Wednesday, April 27, 2022. He was a native and resident of Bogalusa.

Bucky grew up working in the family business as a brick mason. He was a dedicated LSU fan and avid outdoorsman who loved fishing and hunting. Bucky was a friend and mentor that will be missed by all that knew him.

Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 21 years, Amy Merritt Smith; his mother, Paula Williams Wilson; four sisters, Brooke Beam (Jeremy), Elizabeth Burden (Daniel), Taylor Smith (Jimmy Crowe) and Faith Wilson; one uncle, Jeffrey Smith; one aunt, Carla Robinette (Jim); his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Victor and Valerie “Honey” Merritt Sr.; two sisters-in-law, Marcia Smith (Matt) and Leigh Ann French (Davey); one brother-in-law, Victor William Merritt Jr. (Cydnee); along with a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Bucky was preceded in death by his father, Walker B. Smith III; paternal grandfather, Walker B. Smith Jr.; paternal grandmother, Shirley Nell Penton Smith; maternal grandparents, Bernard and Edwina Williams; stepfather, Dale Wilson; and aunt, Christy Barber.

Family and friends are invited to attend Bucky’s celebration of life on Saturday, April 30, at 2 p.m. at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home, located at 216 Alabama Ave. in Bogalusa. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the hour of service. The Rev. Fred Brumfield will be officiating the services.
