Ben’s Ford’s Norwood captured 2 events in district meet

Ben’s Ford Christian School’s Ethan Norwood captured two events and teammate Caleb Matthews won one at the District 4-3A Meet at Centreville Academy on Thursday, April 21.

Norwood captured the shot put and discus. His shot put distance was 33 feet, 6 inches and he threw the discus 88-4.5.

Teammate Caden Pajak was second in the discus at 77-11 and third for the shot put at 31-6.5.

Matthews won the 800 meters with a time of 2 minutes, 39 seconds. Teammate Sam Talley came in fourth with a time of 3:07.

Thursday’s meet was a qualifier. The top four finishers from each event are headed to South State. South State’s field events were on Wednesday and the track events will be on April 30 with everything taking place at Canton Academy. Ben’s Ford Christian School is the only school in District 4-3A from Washington Parish.

Ben’s Ford had plenty of second-place finishes.

Matthews ran second in the 100 with a time of 12.90 seconds. Wilkinson County Christian Academy’s Ryan Fisher won at 12.29.

Jacob Robichaux came in second for the 400 in 1:08 with Wilkinson County Christian Academy’s Roderick Bailey winning the event in 57.78.

All three of Ben’s Ford’s relay teams were second, as the 4×100 ran in 1:13, the 4×200 had a time of 1:59 and the 4×400 posted a time of 5:10. The 4×100 featured Matthews, Norwood, Pajak and Talley. The 4×200 and 4×400 had Matthews, Norwood, Pajak and Robichaux. Wilkinson County Christian Academy won all three with times of 53.62 in the 4×100, 1:46 for the 4×200 and 4:18 in the 4×400.

Robichaux and Pajak ran third and fourth in the 200 with times of 32.66 and 37.58. Bailey won in 24.30.

Matthews and Talley came in third and fourth for the long jump with distances of 16-6.5 and 14-7. Wilkinson County Christian Academy’s Andrew Sessions won at 19-2.5.

Tally and Robichaux came in third and fourth in the triple jump with distances of 27-10.5 and 24-10. Sessions won at 39-1.

Wilkinson County Christian Academy won the meet with 117 points.

Ben’s Ford Christian School was second at 63.
