Bogalusa, Franklinton competed in meet

Bogalusa and Franklinton competed in the Allie Smith Invitational that was held on April 7 at Covington High School.

Bogalusa’s Cierra Gibson was fifth in the discus with a throw of 74 feet, 9 inches. Franklinton’s Jennifer Dong, teammate Kadence Smith and Bogalusa’s Ta’niya Brown came sixth, 15th and 17th with distances of 74-3, 42-9 and 38-1. Covington’s Leah Whittington won at 94-9.

Bogalusa’s Ta’Miya Crumedy was sixth in the 100-meter hurdles after running in 19.28 seconds. Franklinton’s Aleigha Dalton and Bogalusa’s Sha’Kenzie Jefferson were 14th and 15th in 21.48 and 21.55. Slidell’s Maya Calloway won in 16.98.

Bogalusa’s 4×100 relay team was sixth with a time of 55.58 seconds. The team had LaDerrick Payna, Tamerical Peters, Crumedy and Caitlin Holloway. Slidell won the event in 51.57.

Crumedy, teammate Shantazia Taylor and Franklinton’s Ka’Miyha Dillon were seventh, 14th and 17th in the 400 with times of 1 minute, 6 seconds, 1:12 and 1:20. Slidell’s Angel Jefferson ran the event in 1:00 to win.

Holloway, Peters and Franklinton teammates Carli Smith and Selena Wilson were eighth, 10th, 14th and 18th with jumps of 13-9, 13-6, 11-11.5 and 7-3. Covington’s Kerrington Baham won at 17-7.5.

Gibson, Brown and Franklinton’s Isabella Lambert and Arielle Magee came in eighth, 15th, 17th and 19th for the javelin with throws of 69-9, 50-7, 47-5 and 36-9. Ponchatoula’s Olivia Leroux won at 95-4.

Bogalusa’s 4×200 relay team that had Kailyah Collins, Holloway, Crumedy and Peters came in eighth place after running the race in 2:01. Slidell won in 1:49.

Franklinton’s 4×100 relay team came in ninth with a time of 1:00. The team had Morgan Gilbert, Mercedes Lopez, Dalton and Hope Phelps. Slidell won that race in 51.57.

Gibson, Holloway and Franklinton’s Jakyla McClane and teammate Keteylar Hodges were ninth, 10th, 16th and 18th in the shot put with distances of 28-6.75, 27-11.5, 20-9 and 19-9. Whittington won at 34-8.

Bogalusa’s Yasmin Chatmon, Peters and Franklinton’s Lopez and Amiryan Dyson were 11th and 13th through 15th in the 200 with times of 31.02, 32.39, 33.39 and 35.18. Slidell’s Khailee Calloway won in 26.03.

Franklinton’s Ava Lavigne, teammate Natalie Seal and Bogalusa’s Jefferson came in 12th, 14th and 15th in the 300 hurdles with times of 59.32, 1:04 and 1:06. Salmen’s Genesis Lee won in 49.59.

Chatmon and Taylor were 14th and 19th in the 100 with times of 14.94 and 16.19. Calloway won in 12.71.

Bogalusa and Franklinton will compete again in their district meets that will take place on April 20. Bogalusa is in the 8-3A Meet at Jewel Sumner, while Franklinton heads to the 9-4A Meet at Lakeshore.
