Pine competed in the Strawberry Relays that were held at Southeastern Louisiana University on Thursday.

James Owens was Pine’s top finisher, as he came in 11th place in the javelin with a throw of 117 feet, 2 inches. John Curtis’ Noah Andrews won with a 149-6, as 23 people competed.

Samuel Magee ran 14th and 19th for the hurdle events. He clocked in the 110 meters at 20.20 seconds and the 300s at 49.13. John Curtis’ Justin Horne won both events. He tallied a 14.09 in the 110s and a 40.17 for the 300s.

Pine’s 4×200 relay team came in 17th with a time of 1 minute, 43 seconds. The runners included Thomas Bernard, Zack Thomas, Owens and Averyon Wiley. Woodlawn of Baton Rouge topped the event in 1:27.

Bernard and Wiley were 23rd and 25th in the long jump with distances of 17-8 and 17-4. Scotlanville’s Broderick Davis won at 22-3 in a field of 38.

Owens and Wiley were 27th and 35th in the 100 with times of 12.04 and 12.98. Woodlawn of Baton Rouge’s J’Marcus Sewell’s 10.64 was the winning time, as 42 runners competed.

Bernard and Samuel Thomas ran 29th and 40th in the 200 with times of 25.23 and 27.32 with Sewell winning in 22.15.

Albert Caillouet and Nino Martin  came in 28th and 32nd for the 800 after running a 2:39 and 2:41, as Scotlandville’s Dominick Baptiste won in 2:02.

Zack Thomas and Russlyn Creel were 28th and 35th for the 400 with times of 1:00 and 1:04, as Lafayette’s Emery Taylor won in 51.63.

John Curtis won the team honors in a close competition with 107.5 points, as 20 teams posted points.

Woodlawn of Baton Rouge was second at 102, followed by St. Amant’s 79, St. Paul School’s 63 and Scotlandville’s 42 to round out the top five.

Pine had just one female competing in Cameron Magee, who ran the 800, and came in 25th place in 3:01. St. Thomas Aquinas’ Breanna Becerra won in 2:19.

Lafayette won the team competition with 94 points with 25 teams posting points.

Scotlandville was second with 85, followed by St. Thomas Aquinas’ 62 and Isidore Newman and Mandeville tied for fourth with 35 to round out the top five.

Pine will compete again in the District 9-2A Meet on Monday at Ponchatoula.
