Bogalusa’s Roberts, Franklinton’s Brumfield both win event in meet

Bogalusa’s Aquinas Roberts and Franklinton’s Kendarius Brumfield both won an event in the Jewel Sumner High School Cowboy Relays that was held on April 1.

Roberts captured the high jump after clearing the bar at 5 feet, 10 inches. Franklinton’s Jakobie McCormick came in fifth at 5-4.

Brumfield was victorious for the javelin with a throw of 132-0. Bogalusa’s Haiken Thompson was second at 131-6.

Roberts was third in the triple jump with a distance of 41-0.5. Franklinton’s Kollin Williams and Christiun Martin along with Bogalusa’s Desmond Ramirez Jr. were sixth, eighth and ninth with results of 37-7.5, 35-11.5 and 34-4. Kentwood’s Carmel Taylor won with a jump of 43-6.

Bogalusa and Franklinton were the local teams in the meet.

Franklinton’s Sebastian Magee was fourth in both hurdle events, while teammate Kelly Daniels was fourth in the 200 meters and Franklinton’s 4×100 relay team was fourth.

Magee ran the 110 hurdles in 17.88 seconds and the 300 in 45.61. Martin and Bogalusa’s Rashun Davis ran seventh and eighth in the 110s with times of 20.54 and 21-1. Martin and Davis were ninth and 11th in the 300 hurdles at 50.17 and 54.23. West Feliciana’s Caleb Johnson won both hurdle-events. He topped the 110s in 15.05 and the 300s in 42.01.

Daniels ran the 200 in 23.41. Williams and Bogalusa’s Jamarian Magee were fifth and 11th in the 200 after running in 23.41 and 25.91.

Franklinton’s 4×100 relay team had a time of 45.91. Bogalusa was seventh at 48.61. Franklinton’s runners were Zion Anders, Daniels, Williams and Timarion Partman. Bogalusa’s team had Tyren Jackson, Magee, Reynis Morris and Thompson.

The rest of the local fifth-place finishers were Franklinton’s Daniels, Andrew Crain and the Demons 4×800 relay team, Bogalusa’s Tyren Jackson and Ramirez and the Lumberjacks 4×200 relay squad.

Daniels was fifth in the 100 with a time of 11.38. Teammate Eddie Roberts and Bogalusa’s Magee were 13th and 14th with times of 12.36 and 12.44. Kentwood’s Jeremaine Brown won with a time of 11.02.

Crain was fifth in the 1,600 and 3,200. Crain ran the 1,600 in 5 minutes, 25 seconds and the 3,200 in 12:23. Teammate Jeremiah Jones was eighth at 5:59 in the 1,600. West Feliciana’s Bryce Jarrell won both races. He ran the 1,600 in 5:01 and the 3,200 in 11:11.

Franklinton’s 4×800 relay team ran a 10:04. Their runners were Crain, McCormick, Jones and Aiden Moak. St. Thomas Aquinas tallied a 9:25 to win.

Ramirez came in fifth for the 400 with a time of 55.56. Franklinton’s Ahmod Partman and teammate Jackson Bickham were eighth and 11th with times of 59.32 and 1:01. Kentwood’s Tyler Colbert won in 53.06.

Bogalusa’s Jackson was fifth in the discus with a throw of 100-2. Teammate Nigel Caldwell was seventh and Franklinton’s Wyatt Lambert came in 11th with distances of 89-5 and 80-5. West Feliciana’s Jermarian Jackson recorded a 135-0 to win.

Bogalusa’s 4×200 relay team ran a 1:39 with a group that featured Roberts, Jackson, Morris and Magee. Kentwood won with a time of 1:31.

Franklinton’s 4×400 relay team was sixth after a 4:12. The team had Magee, Martin, Darnell Straugher and Eddie Roberts. Kentwood won in 3:47.

Franklinton’s Jones and McCormick and Bogalusa’s Marley McGowan ran seventh, 10th and 12th in the 800 in 2:34, 2:37 and 2:46 with West Feliciana’s Joseph McGregor winning in 2:16.

Bogalusa’s De’Marcus Holmes and Ramirez were eighth and ninth in the long jump with distances of 16-9 and 15-10. Kentwood’s Jermaine Brown won with a 20-11.

Bogalusa’s Ty’marion Hughes and Caldwell were ninth and 13th for the shot put with distances of 31-4 and 30-2. Kentwood’s Shacobe Dyson won at 41-4.

Franklinton tied for fifth place with Loranger, as both teams had 44 points and Bogalusa was eighth with 30.

Kentwood won the meet with 144 points, as nine teams put up points.

West Feliciana came in second with 129, followed by Jewel Sumner’s 79 and St. Thomas Aquinas’ 60 to cap off the top four.

Bogalusa will compete again next at the District 8-3A Meet at Jewel Sumner. Franklinton will be back in action at the district meet that will be at Lakeshore on April 20.
