Pine’s Adrianuen Johnson is the District 9-2A Offensive Most Valuable and Raiders and Varnado players were well represented in the league’s all-district teams.

Johnson, who is a first-team all-district running back, won the Offensive MVP after posting 1,802 yards rushing with 29 touchdowns.

“It means a lot to me,” Johnson said. “Me and my team worked hard this whole season and I appreciated my team for giving me the chance to get MVP with them and for the community of Pine.”

This season, Pine reached the playoffs as the No. 16 seed, but was defeated in the first round by No. 17 and regional round team East Feliciana, 55-35.

Several more Pine and Varnado players made all-district.

The rest of the local first-team players are Varnado tight end/flex Malik Patterson, Pine offensive lineman Bryson Thomas, Varnado linebacker Tyran Holmes, Pine linebacker John Thomas Caldwell and Pine defensive lineman Cameron Brown. Thomas is also a second-team defensive lineman.

Patterson ran for 679 yards on 103 carries and seven touchdowns. He also made three catches for 34 yards.

Caldwell made 72 tackles.

Brown tallied four sacks.

Thomas posted five sacks.

Holmes made 72 stops this season with an interception and a forced fumble.

The rest of the local second-team players are Varnado wide receiver Quovadis Bickham, Varnado tight end/flex Devonte Magee, Pine running back Ke’Montre Magee, Varnado offensive lineman Donte Pernell, Varnado athlete Zamarian Washington, Varnado defensive back Jamari Lewis, Pine linebacker Ethan Rester and Varnado defensive lineman Christian Fox.

Ke’Montre Magee ran for 406 yards and had 190 receiving.

Rester tallied 49 stops.

Moving to the all-district honorable-mention players, the group includes Pine teammates offensive linemen Cale Temples, Seth McLendon, Blaise Seal and Fox, flex James Owens, quarterback Luke Spears, wide receiver Preston Stogner and linebacker Ethan Ryals.

Stogner had 135 yards receiving.

Spears threw for 1,072 yards and seven touchdowns.

Owens had 271 yards receiving and five scores.

Varnado’s all-district honorable-mention players are offensive linemen Ashton Smith, Chase Lewis and Ty’Darain Brooks, defensive lineman Pernell and defensive back Bickham.

Amite teammates Zamian Waller and Javae Gilmore are co-defensive MVPs.

Waller is a first-team defensive lineman and Gilmore is a first-team defensive flex. Gilmore is also a first-team all-district receiver.

Amite was the sixth-seeded team in the playoffs and won the Class 2A state title with a 17-6 victory over top-seeded Many.

The first-team quarterbacks are Amite’s Jalen Robinson and St. Helena College and Career Academy’s Corey Griffin.

Besides Gilmore, the first-team receivers are St. Helena College and Career Academy’s Javant Dunn, Kentwood’s Kevante Carter and Amite’s Ashton Terrell. Terrell is also a second-team receiver.

Besides Patterson, the tight end/flex Amite’s Lamar Harris and St. Helena College and Career Academy’s Bryan Tanner.

Besides Johnson, the rest of the top-team running backs are Amite’s Brennan Harrell and Independence’s Machi Bean.

Outside of Thomas, the rest of the offensive linemen are Amite teammates Stanley Williams and Treyeon Brumfield, St. Helena College and Career Academy’s Josiah Mensah and Cameron Blocker and Independence’s Dylan Vernon and Elias Burroughs.

The athlete/returners are Amite’s Earl Jackson and St. Helena College and Career Academy’s Jacorian Taylor.

The first-team kicker/punter/specialists are Amite’s Liam Adamson and Independence’s Robert Pingno.

The returner is Jackson.

The top-team defensive backs are Amite teammates Simeon Powell and Jmarion Dunomes and Kevondre Burton and St. Helena College and Career Academy’s Javant Dunn.

Besides Holmes and Caldwell, the linebackers are Amite teammates Ashton Wilson and Jaicory Thomas and St. Helena College and Career Academy’s Jerome Lee.

Outside of Brown and Waller, the rest of the defensive linemen are Amite’s Jeremy Robertson, St. Helena College and Career Academy’s Cameron Smith, Independence’s Chandler Banks and Kentwood’s Lamichael Callahan.

Moving to the second-team players, besides Bickham and Terrell, the receivers are Kentwood’s Tyler Hookfin and St. Helena College and Career Academy’s Montrell Wright.

Outside of Magee, the rest of the running backs are Amite’s Zhamere Ard, St. Helena College and Career Academy’s LaCardius Boatwright and Kentwood’s Sean Burton.

Besides Pernell, the second-team offensive linemen are St. Helena College and Career Academy’s Kentrell Domino, Kentwood teammates Jay Smith and Shacobe Dyson and Amite teammates Antwaine Nicholson, Chris Franklin and Jeffery Woolridge.

Outside of Washington, the athlete is St. Helena College and Career Academy’s Moses Baker.

The second-team returner is St. Helena College and Career Academy’s Keith Gaston.

Besides Lewis, the defensive backs are St. Helena College and Career Academy’s Antoine Baker, Independence’s DeAndrew Davis and Amite’s Markis Dunn.

The linebackers besides Rester are St. Helena College and Career Academy’s Treyvonne Scales, Independence’s teammates Elijah Sanders and John Milton, Kenwood’s Omarion Johnson.

Besides Fox and Thomas, the rest of the defensive linemen are Amite teammates Deshun Martin and Jalen Vernon, Independence’s Jawan Wess and Kentwood’s Chacobe Dyson.

The flex is St. Helena College and Career Academy’s Chivas Cornish Jr.

Kentwood made the playoffs as the No. 25 team, but lost to eighth-seeded and quarterfinalist Rosepine, 35-0, in the first round.

St. Helena College and Career Academy was the 11th-seeded team, but was defeated by No. 22 and regional round team Kinder, 22-20, in the first round.

Independence was the No. 32 team and they were defeated by Many, 49-0, in the first round.
