The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for southeastern Louisiana and southern/central Mississippi until 7 p.m. This area includes Washington Parish.

Tornadoes (some strong) and damaging winds (some more than 75 mph) are the main threats this afternoon and early evening. Large hail may also occur.

A tornado watch means that the formation of tornadoes is possible in and near the watch area. Review and discuss your emergency plans and check supplies and your safe room. Be ready to act quickly if a tornado warning is issued or you suspect a tornado is approaching.
