Joe L. Adams, 94, was born in Goff, Miss., on May 29, 1927, and passed away at home in West Monroe on March 17, 2022.

Joe L. served in the U.S. Air Force as a Cook from 1943 to 1965. After retiring, he cooked offshore for many years. In 2010, he moved from Bogalusa to West Monroe to live with his sister, Ethel Haik.

During his time in West Monroe, Joe L. has a smile for everyone. If you asked him how he’s doing, he was quick to reply, “fine as a frog hair.” He loved watching Westerns and wrestling on television, but the highlight of his week was Sunday lunch with his great nephews.

He is survived by his sister-in-law, Almeta Adams, and many nephews and nieces and their children.

He was preceded in death by his siblings, Bobbie Adams Navo, Johnnie Adams, Reggie Adams, Ethel Adams Haik, Brock Adams, Ray Adams, Joan Adams Campbell and Jimmy Adams; and his parents, Bob Spencer Adams and Elmer Robbins Adams Strickland.

The family is extremely grateful for Serenity Care Providers, who cared for Joe L. and Ethel like they were beloved family members. They are also thankful to Compassus Hospice for their kindness and help in his final weeks.

Graveside services will be held at the Adams Cemetery in Varnado at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 22, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home of West Monroe.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Food Bank of Northeast Louisiana.
