Franklinton posts 2-1 record in tournament last weekend

Franklinton posted a 2-1 record in the Ponchatoula Tournament that was held Thursday through Saturday.

Franklinton began the tournament with an 11-1 victory over Jewel Sumner in six innings on Thursday.

Nathan Parden went 3-for-4 with a double and a run driven in.

Will Turner recorded two hits that included a triple with three runs batted in and two runs scored.

Banyan Penton singled, doubled, drove in two runs and scored two runs.

Rickey Burkhalter doubled twice and drove in a run.

Micah Wascom had two hits and two runs scored.

Rickeen Burkhalter posted two singles and a run scored.

Tyler Hammond tallied a hit.

Tyson Fowler scored two runs, while D.J. Corkern scored a run.

Dillon Pace and Hammond both pitched three innings.

Pace allowed no runs on a hit with a strikeout and two walks. Hammond allowed one unearned run on no hits with three strikeouts and a walk.

Franklinton was topped by Ponchatoula, 2-1, in 10 innings on Friday.

Penton tallied three hits.

Wascom singled twice.

Turner singled and scored a run.

Trevor Vise, Rickey Burkhalter, Parden and Pace all had a hit.

Wascom went six innings, allowing one run on one hit with 10 strikeouts and three walks. Turner went three innings, allowing one run on four hits with five strikeouts and three walks.

The setback was Franklinton’s first loss of the season after a 6-0 start.

Franklinton rebounded from the loss with a 5-4 win over Hammond on Saturday.

Penton went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.

Wascom had two hits that included a double.

Vise singled, scored two runs and drove in a run.

Parden singled and scored a run.

Corkern scored two runs, while Rickeen Burkhalter drove in a run.

Franklinton’s next game will be on March 8 against Loranger on the road
