Franklinton’s Tayte Landry is a top seed at state and 11 girls powerlifters from Washington Parish are headed to the state meet later this month.

Nine lifters from Franklinton and two more from Pine reached the state meet.

Franklinton’s state qualifiers are Angel Dufrene, Kaylee Ard, Ava Roshto, Marleigh Schilling, Jennifer Dong, Christian Loup, Tate, Arielle Magee and Evelyn Argualles.

Pine’s state qualifiers are Anna Arceneaux and Brianne Pittman.

To reach state, the lifter had to either win their weight class at the regional meet or come in the top 10 of their division, but when somebody won their regional, that counted as a spot toward state, so if somebody from a Division I school won at regionals, there were nine spots left for state. There were six regions. Franklinton and Pine were in the South Regional that was held at Covington High School.

Franklinton is in Division II and Pine is in Division IV.

The state meet will be held March 24-26 at the Fant Coliseum at the University of Louisiana at Monroe.

Landry is the No. 1 seed in the 198-pound weight class after posting a 730 total in regionals. Landry squatted 330, benched 140 and deadlifted 260.

Ard, Schilling and Argualles are second seeds.

Ard is in the 105s and had a 530 total. Ard tallied a 215 squat, 95 bench and 220 deadlift.

Schilling competes in the 132s. She squatted 300, benched 130 and deadlifted 280 for a 710 total.

Argualles competes in the SHW and posted 875. She squatted 415, benched 235 and deadlifted 315.

Magee is the third seed in the 220s. She squatted 245, benched 170 and deadlifted 300 for a 715 total.

Dufrene, Roshto, Dong and Arceneaux are No. 4 seeds in their weight classes.

Dufrene is in the 97s, while Arceneaux is in the 114s

Dufrene posted a 410. She squatted 130, benched 100 and deadlifted 180.

Roshto, who is in the 123s, recorded a 210 squat, 100 bench and 240 deadlift for 550.

Dong lifts in the 132s. She squatted 245, benched 120 and deadlifted 290 for a 655 total.

Arceneaux squatted 180, benched 95 and deadlifted 245 for 520.

Loup is an eight seed. Loup lifts in the 165s. Loup posted a total of 635 after squatting 230, benching 130 and deadlifting 275.

Pittman is a No. 9 seed in the 148s. Pittman squatted 170, benched 70 and deadlifted 210 for 450.

Also for Franklinton, Isabella Lambert was 15th in the 148s with a 540 total after squatting 225, benching 100 and deadlift 215.

Hannah Spears squatted 190 in the 123s.

Also for Pine, Emma Kelly was 11th for the 165s with a 160 squat, 65 bench and 190 deadlift for 415 total.
