Franklinton goes 4-0 in recent games

Franklinton’s Demons went 4-0 in games held from Feb. 24 through Wednesday.

Franklinton blanked Hammond, 2-0, on Feb. 24, as Micah Wascom and Dillon Pace combined on the shutout.

Wascom threw five innings of two-hit ball with seven strikeouts and one walk. Pace threw two no-hit innings with a strikeout and no walks for the save.

Offensively, Banyan Penton hit a homer. It was his first career varsity round tripper and was a solo homer as part of a 2-for-4 day.

Tryson Fowler and Rickey Burkalter both singled for Franklinton.

That game started a 3-0 run in the Pearl River Tournament, which the Demons played at Franklinton.

On Feb. 26, Franklinton topped French Settlement, 4-2.

Trevor Vise went 2-for-3 with a double and a run batted in.

Penton singled, drove in a run and scored a run.

Nathan Parden doubled and scored a run.

Fowler singled and scored a run.

Will Turner doubled.

Pace singled.

D.J. Corkern scored a run.

Winning pitcher Pace threw six solid innings, allowing one run on two hits with six strikeouts and three walks.

Penton recorded the save with a scoreless inning where he allowed four hits with a walk.

The next game on Feb. 26 was a 6-1 victory over Northlake Christian School.

Turner, who opened the season with a no-hitter, was strong again, allowing one run that was unearned on just one hit with 15 strikeouts and two walks over six innings. Offensively, Turner singled and posted an RBI.

Jacob Tullos threw a scoreless inning, allowing one hit with two strikeouts and a walk.

Burkhalter singled twice and drove in two.

Wascom had two hits and a run scored.

Pace posted a hit and two runs scored.

Penton singled and drove in a run.

Fowler and Vice both singled.

Corkern scored two runs.

On Wednesday, Franklinton defeated Varnado, 22-0 in five innings.

Four pitchers, Fowler, Tullos, Dylan Stafford and Tyler Hammond, combined on a no-hitter.

Fowler went 1-2/3 innings with five strikeouts and two walks.

Tullos threw 1-1/3 frames with two strikeouts and no walks.

Stafford went an inning with three strikeouts and three walks.

Hammond had three strikeouts and no walks over an inning.

Pace singled, doubled, drove in three runs and scored two runs.

Turner posted a double with an RBI and two runs scored.

Wascom singled, scored three runs and drove in two.

Rickeen Burkhalter singled, drove in a run and scored a run.

Penton tripled with two RBIs and a run scored.

Tullos and Rickey Burkhalter doubled and drove in a run.

Cade Phillips singled and drove in a run.

Emerson Henn singled and scored a run.

Hammond doubled.

Fowler and Cole Mayet both singled.

Vise, Stafford, Parden and Corkern all scored three runs.

Franklinton began play in the Ponchatoula Tournament on Thursday.
