Louisiana’s Karlo Kajin and Coastal Carolina’s Anna Babayan each recorded key victories for their teams and were named the Sun Belt Conference Tennis Players of the Week.

Men’s Tennis Player of the Week
Karlo Kajin, Louisiana

Ragin’ Cajuns sophomore Karlo Kajin teamed up with Alejandro Sanchez Gonzalez for a win at No. 1 to clinch the doubles point vs. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Feb. 5. The next afternoon, he grabbed a win at No. 1 singles to keep the team’s comeback vs. Rice alive. Louisiana went on to win 4-3. Kajin posted a dominant 6-1 win in the third set, handing Rice’s Haoyuan Huang his first loss of the season at No. 1 singles.

Women’s Tennis Player of the Week
Anna Babayan, Coastal Carolina
(Fr., Bradenton, Fla.)

Chanticleers’ freshman Anna Babayan picked up three wins last week. On Feb. 4, she defeated 84th-ranked Ali DeSpain (Clemson) in three sets, 4-6, 6-1, 10-7. On Feb. 5, Babayan and teammate Valentina Urelli blanked the No. 3 doubles pair from North Carolina Central, 6-0. In No. 5 singles action vs. NCCU, she defeated Lafi Joao, 6-4, 6-2. Coastal Carolina won that match 7-0.
