Arkansas State’s Jelmert, Pyeatt earn Sun Belt Men’s Track/Field Athlete of the Week Awards

Arkansas State’s Bradley Jelmert and Jacob Pyeatt turned in strong performances in their respective events this past weekend and have claimed Sun Belt Conference Men’s Track & Field Athlete of the Week honors.

Men’s Track Athlete of the Week
Jacob Pyeatt, Arkansas State

Red Wolves’ sophomore Jacob Pyeatt took over the conference lead in the men’s 5,000 meters on Sunday, clocking a time of 14:25.09 at the USA Jaguar Invitational in Birmingham, Ala. His time is the second-fastest in program history and leads the Sun Belt by more than 12 seconds. His mark ranked seventh in the USTFCCCA’s Top-10 Marks of the Week in the event among collegians.

Men’s Field Athlete of the Week
Bradley Jelmert, Arkansas State

Red Wolves’ sophomore Bradley Jelmert moved into the top-15 in the NCAA on Sunday at the USA Jaguar Invitational, clearing a career-best 5.36m/17-7.0 to win the men’s pole vault event. His mark is tied for sixth-best in Arkansas State indoor history and surpassed his previous best (indoor and outdoor combined) by 10 centimeters (4 inches). Jelmert currently is tied for 15th in Division I and ranks second in the Sun Belt Conference.
