Varnado’s Lady Cats were defeated by St. Helena College and Career Academy, 41-31, in a District 9-2A home game that was held on Friday at home.
Myeasha Peters led Varnado with 12 points.
Jalisia Jackson posted 11.
Jakyra Daggs had five.
Myeshawn Fox tallied three.
“Even though we lost, I saw a lot of improvement and growth in our team,” Varnado coach Garnet Fornea said. “We lost to St. Helena in our last meeting by 36 points (45-9), and this time by only 10. We tend to get behind and give up. Tonight, I saw our girls keep playing their hearts out and never gave up, even though we were trailing the entire game. I was very proud of our girls tonight!”
Varnado’s next game will be on Feb. 8 against Independence at home.
