Thelma Elizabeth Martin Cousin, 75, transitioned to her heavenly rest on Feb. 3, 2022.

Mrs. Cousin was the oldest daughter of the late Luther and Rovella Harry Martin; and the wife of the late Eric Cousin of Angie.

Thelma was a 1964 honor graduate of Wesley Ray High School, in Angie. She received her Master’s Degree in Education from Southern University, in Baton Rouge; and a Master’s plus 30 Degree and additional studies from Southeastern Louisiana University and Southern University New Orleans. Mrs. Cousin was a retired educator and counselor, who served within the Bogalusa City Schools; Washington (Enon); Vermilion (Abbeville); and St. Mary’s (Morgan City) Parish School Districts.

Sister Cousin was a life-long, dedicated member through gifts, service and tithes of Wesley Ray United Methodist Church; where she served as an ambitious leader for the mission of Jesus Christ, a faithful Sunday School Teacher and attendee, Pastor Parish Relations Chairperson and administrative board Chairperson, among a few other capacities.

The funeral services will be held at Wesley Ray United Methodist Church in Angie, at noon on Friday, Feb. 11. The interment service will be held on Monday, Feb. 14, at Southeast Veteran Cemetery in Slidell.

She leaves to cherish her memories: three sisters and two brothers, Shirley M. Jackson, Brenda M. (Robert) Robinson, Luther (Donna) Martin Jr., Steven (Sheronda) Martin, and Tracy Martin; her eight christened godchildren, Belinda Jackson, La’Robyn Houston, Ronda Robinson, Amber Bishop, Arielle Bishop, Cardez Foster, Aryanna Nichols and Bryanna Nichols; three aunts, Rosa Lee White, Annie (Willie) Bishop and Emma Harry; one uncle, Retired Lt. Col. William Harry; great-nieces and great-nephews; two step-children, Melinda (James) Gee and André Cousin; care-givers; and a host of dear friends, cousins and relatives.
