The Mean Monkey Academy won the North American Grappling Association Jiu Jitsu Title in the kids division last weekend in Fort Walton Beach, Fla.

The Mean Monkeys had 16 grapplers and all 16 placed in the top three.

Five competed for the belt and four won. In order to win the belt, the participant has to be entered in the expert division.

The Mean Monkeys belt winners were Anthony Moody, Yaseen Alhaj, Ahmed Alhaj and Shawn Pierce.

The gold medalists were Ramsey Adams, Maxine Barber, Josiah Castleberry, Blaize Hanson and Austin Adams.

This was Castleberry’s first time competing and he won all six of his matches.

The Mean Monkeys came in second for the team division, which includes three brackets — kids, teenagers and adults.
