Georgia State’s Grinvalds, Texas State’s McCutcheon named Sun Belt Tennis Players of the Week

Georgia State’s Roberts Grinvalds and Texas State’s Mae McCutcheon turned in standout performances for their teams and have earned Sun Belt Conference Tennis Player of the Week recognition.

Men’s Tennis Player of the Week
Roberts Grinvalds, Georgia State
(Sr., Bigaunciems, Latvia)

Panthers’ senior Roberts Grinvalds has been consistently dominant this season playing at the No. 1 spot for Georgia State. Last Friday, he posted a 6-4-6-4 win at No. 1 singles and teamed with Andrei Duarte to earn a 6-2 doubles victory. The Panthers defeated USF, 4-3, after clinching the win at 4-1. This marked the second consecutive match in which Grinvalds has made quick work of his singles opponent to earn Georgia State an early victory.

Women’s Tennis Player of the Week
Mae McCutcheon, Texas State
(So., Wolverhampton, England)

Bobcats’ sophomore Mae McCutcheon clinched Texas State’s first win of the season with a 2-6, 6-4, 6-2 decision at No. 3 singles against Stephen F. Austin. Against Jackson State, she won her No. 3 singles match, 6-1, 6-3, helping the Bobcats to victory.
