Marie Margiotta Mizell was born May 9, 1930, in Bogalusa, and passed away on Jan. 17, 2022, at Our Lady of the Angels Hospital in Bogalusa.

Marie was a vibrant, caring and strong-willed woman, a true matriarch of her family in every sense of the word. An outstanding cook, she enjoyed cooking and caring for her family the most. She was also very fond of playing cards with her lady friends. Marie found joy in the simplest pleasures of life. She was a devout member of Annunciation Catholic Church, the Kaycettes and the Italian-American club.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Wayne Mizell; her parents, Thomas and Annie Margiotta; her son, Kevin Paul Mizell; and 12 siblings.

Marie is survived by her sons, Brian (Linda) Mizell and Wade (Amy) Mizell; five grandchildren, Kyle Mizell, Amanda (Justin) Yates, Cory Mizell, Ethan (Sydney) Mizell and Mia Mizell; and two great-grandchildren, Brody and Joey Yates.

Visitation was held at Annunciation Catholic Church on Friday, Jan. 21, from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. A Catholic Mass was held at 11 a.m., with Entombment at Ponemah Cemetery following the service.
