Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Ilene Murriel Peters was born in Poplarville, Miss., to Clarence and Geneva Harris on Dec. 2, 1927. She gained her wings and returned to her precious Saviour and loved ones who have gone on before her on Jan. 20, 2022.

Welcoming her into Heaven are her parents, Clarence and Geneva Harris; devoted husband, Thomas Leighton Peters; loving son, Thomas Alton Peters; great-granddaughter, Alice Kate Heck; sisters, Juanita McKenney and Jerry Talley; and brothers, Cecil Harris and Charles Harris.

Her legacy left behind: children, Sharon Elizabeth (Bill Sr.) Davidson and Barbara Elaine (Johnny) Williams; grandchildren, Bill (Angela) Davidson Jr., Chris (Lisa) Davidson, Toni (Josh) Harley, Scott (Michelle) Miley, Bryan (Alaina) Miley, Allison (John) Penton, Shannon (Chris) Bond, Kelly Peters and Carrin (Brian) Varnado; great-grandchildren, Ashton, Abbie, Lexi, Abigail, Jaston, Trevor, Taylor, Gabi, Emily, Landon, Lana, Cody, Bailey, Leighton, Blake, Brandon, Paige, Maddi, Cole, Emma, Reece, Patrick, Zane, Alyssa, Cole, Drew, Elijah, Isaiah, Marissa and Aibrum; and great-great-grandchildren, Ayden, Lyam, Isabella, Morgen, Grayson, Keegan, Gabriel, Ransom and Bellamy.

Although our hearts are broken, we have such peace knowing that her angel who she would often say would visit her nightly, has ushered her into the place she so longed to be. We take comfort in knowing she will be there to greet us when our time comes … oh, what a day, glorious day, that will be.

Sincere appreciation to New Life UPC, Compassus Hospice and our special friend, Rhonda Miley.

A visitation will be held Sunday, Jan. 23, from 1 p.m. until time for the services at 2 p.m. at New Life UPC, 1600 Jefferson St. in Bogalusa, with interment to follow at Ponemah Cemetery.
