Texas State senior forward Da’Nasia Hood averaged nearly 30 points per game on 77 percent shooting from the field last week and has been named the Sun Belt Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week.

In a pair of road wins at Georgia Southern and Georgia State, Hood played 65:55 minutes of game action. Her final line for the week was 29.0 points per game, 77.4 percent shooting from the field, 9.5 rebounds per game, 2.0 steals per game and 1.0 blocks per game.

Hood’s 29 points per game was the top overall mark by any player in the Sun Belt this past week. Hood’s 32 points at Georgia Southern and 26 points at Georgia State were two of the top-three scoring marks in the conference throughout the week.

For the week, Hood led the Bobcats in 11 different statistical categories.

Against Georgia Southern, Hood tallied a career-high 32 points on 13-of-16 shooting (81.3 percent) en route to becoming the first Bobcat women’s basketball player to score 30 or more points in a game since Toshua Leavitt (31) at Arkansas State on January 19, 2019. Hood’s 32 points against Georgia Southern is the most by a Sun Belt player in a conference game this year.

Against Georgia State, Hood poured in 26 points and 14 rebounds. The 14 rebounds tied her career high, while the double-double was Hood’s third of the season and second against a Sun Belt Conference foe.
