Gary “Peter” Wayne Pittman Sr., 66, passed away at Our Lady of the Angels Hospital on Jan. 15, 2022, at 8:22 p.m., after a long battle with cancer. He was born on Nov. 8, 1955, and was a longtime resident of Bogalusa. Gary worked at Keith Voth’s Dozer Excavation Service for 23 years. He loved to fish and hunt and enjoyed being outside.

Mr. Gary is survived by his first wife, Tanya Burr Pittman; and his current wife, Denise Pittman.

He is also survived by his two children, Dusty Pittman, Sr. and Gary Pittman Jr.; two stepchildren, Heather Jones and Monica Amacker; seven grandchildren, Sophia Sharp, Gabriel Sharp, Hunter Moneyhon, Natalie and Nathan Pittman, Shara Smith, and Dusty Pittman Jr.; four step-grandchildren, Onna-ley Gonsoulin, Cylas Gonsoulin, Emily Miners and Justin Amacker; two great-grandchildren, Joseph Zar and Alexander Smith; two sisters, Betty Gill and Sue Baker; and two brothers, Terry and Greg Pittman.

Mr. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Mildred and Nathan Wayne Pittman; and his granddaughter, Hannah Amacker.

Visitation will be held Thursday, Jan. 20, from 10 a.m. until time for the services at 2 p.m. at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home, with the Rev. Scott Breland officiating. Interment will follow at Pittman Family Cemetery at 52552 Louisiana Highway 60 in Bogalusa.
