The first meeting of the Bogalusa City Council on Tuesday will be held at 5:30 p.m. in person at Bogalusa City Hall, but those who attend are asked to wear a facemask.

An initial agenda draft stated the meeting would be held on the GoToMeeting online streaming platform, as the community continues to deal with the spike in COVID-19 — primarily from the Omicron variant. But Friday afternoon, Bogalusa Mayor Wendy Perrette confirmed that the meeting will be held in-person and open to the public, as long as the proper safety precautions are met.

The council was scheduled to meet Tuesday, Jan. 4, but that meeting was canceled due to concerns about COVID-19.

The agenda for Tuesday’s meeting includes the following:

• City Council Meeting Minutes from Dec. 7, 2021 and Dec. 21, 2021, will be held over until the return of Brenda Ford, Council Secretary.
• There are no recognitions or awards.
• Adoption of a resolution authorizing the retaining of Robert A. Neilson, CPA, to provide professional accounting services for the city of Bogalusa as per engagement letter dated Dec. 20, 2021. (Introduced by Councilwoman Oneita Graham).
• Adoption of a resolution to approve and ratify the purchase of a three-yard dump truck Ford F550 as needed for the Public Works Department. (Introduced by Councilwoman Gloria Kates).
• Adoption of a resolution ordering and calling a special election to be held in the City of Bogalusa, State of Louisiana, to authorize the renewal of a sales and use tax therein; making application to the State Bond Commission in connection therewith; and providing for other matters in connection therewith. (Introduced by Councilwoman at Large Penny Douglas).
• Adoption of a resolution ordering and calling a special emergency election to be held in the City of Bogalusa, State of Louisiana, to authorize a special tax therein; making application to the State Bond Commission in connection therewith; and providing for other matters in connection therewith. (Introduced by Councilwoman Oneita Graham).
• Introduction of an ordinance authorizing the Mayor to retain Micon Services for Emergency Drainage and Sewer Improvements on Military Road in the amount of $172,575.00-PEC Project No: 11621.05. (Introduced by Councilman Kenny Kellis).
• Introduction of an ordinance authorizing the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the lowest bidder for Emergency Drainage and Sewer Improvements on Jefferson Davis Street. (Introduced by Councilwoman Danielle Keys).
• Public participation, administrative remarks and other council discussion.

The two ordinances will be up for public hearing and a vote at the next scheduled meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 1, at 5:30 p.m. No ordinances will come up for a vote at this coming Tuesday’s meeting.
