Two Sun Belt men’s basketball standouts—Arkansas State freshman forward Norchad Omier and Louisiana sophomore forward Jordan Brown—were named to the Lou Henson Award Mid-Season Watch List.

The award, which is presented annually to the top mid-major player in NCAA Division I basketball, honors the former Illinois and New Mexico State coach who won 775 games in 41 seasons.

Omier and Brown are among 41 players on the mid-season list. Players on teams from the following conferences are eligible for the award: America East, Atlantic Sun, Big Sky, Big South, Big West, Colonial, Horizon, Ivy, Metro Atlantic, Mid-American, Mid-Eastern, Missouri Valley, Northeast, Ohio Valley, Patriot, Southern, Southland, Southwestern, Summit, Sun Belt, West Coast.

Omier averages 16.6 points and a conference-best 10.9 rebounds per game, while shooting a Sun Belt-leading 68.3 percent from the field. Omier has 10 double-doubles in 15 games played this season—and 25 in 37 games played for his collegiate career.

Brown averages 14.8 points and 8.8 rebounds per game on 48.6 percent shooting from the field. The reigning Pac-12 Sixth Man of the Year joined the Ragin’ Cajuns after spending the 2020-21 campaign at Arizona.

The recipient of the 2022 award will be announced on April 1 in New Orleans—the site of the 2022 NCAA Final Four.
