Louisiana Lt. Gov. Billy Nungesser will be holding a Louisiana Civil Rights Trail Marker unveiling on Friday at 11 a.m. in Bogalusa.

The event will begin with the presentation at Bethlehem Baptist Church, located at 837 E. 7th St. in Bogalusa. It is expected that Bogalusa Mayor Wendy Perrette, City Council Member Danielle Keys, school board members, and other elected officials as well as the general public will be in attendance.

Following the presentation, all of those in attendance will travel to the Robert “Bob” Hicks House, located at 924 Robert “ Bob” Hicks St. in Bogalusa, for the unveiling of the Louisiana Civil Rights Trail Marker.

The public is invited to attend.

This will serve as partial recognition of some of the many civil rights activities that took place in Bogalusa during the 60s civil rights movement. The Louisiana Civil Rights Trail Marker will recognize one of the locations in Bogalusa — the Hicks family home — where civil rights activities and lawsuits were planned and orchestrated, and where civil rights activists were housed and treated.
