UTA junior forward Starr Jacobs averaged 22 points per game and led her team to a 2-0 start in Sun Belt Conference play. She is this week’s Sun Belt Women’s Basketball Player of the Week.

It is the second Sun Belt weekly honor this season for Jacobs, who is in her first year with the Mavs after transferring from Temple [Texas] College.

In wins against defending Sun Belt regular-season champion Louisiana and ULM – both on the road – Jacobs averaged 22.0 points per game, 4.0 rebounds per game, 2.0 assists per game and 1.0 steals per game. She shot 53.3 percent (16-of-30) from the field and 85.7 percent (12-of-14) from the charity stripe. Jacobs averaged 28.0 minutes per game over the two-game span.

Against Louisiana, Jacobs scored 24 points, brought down five rebounds and swiped two steals in 31 minutes of action. Against ULM, Jacobs totaled 20 points – including a perfect 6-for-6 from the free-throw line – and recorded three rebounds.

Jacobs was the only player in the Sun Belt to record two 20-point games in the opening weekend of league play.
