Joan Starnes, 78, a long-time resident of the Pine community, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Dec. 28, 2021. She was born on Jan. 30, 1943, to George and Essie Starnes.

Joan is survived by her two daughters, Joan Marie (Jonny) Solomons of Miami, Fla., and Melissa Carroll of Pine; three sons, Scott (Christine) Gill of Sault St. Marie, Mich., Rhody Williams of Pine, and Glynn (Amanda) Williams of Milton, Fla.; her sister, Mabel (Stanley) Chaney of Franklinton; and William (Barbara) Starnes of Franklinton.

Joan was predeceased by her parents, George and Essie Starnes; her two sons, Yancy Gill and Vincent Gill; her ex-husbands, Ray Stanley Williams of 33 years and John W. Gill of five years; her sisters, Mevalee (Red) Taylor, Mary (Carl) Luper, Deanie (Dwight) Stockstill and Nell (Howard) Bates; her twin sister, Jean (Virgil) Fairburn; and her brother, James (Betty) Starnes.

Joan was a loving Mother of seven, Grandmother of 20, Great-Grandmother of 24, Daughter, Sister, Aunt and Friend to many. Her favorite things to do often were to dine out, try her hand at the casinos and visit with family. Joan was a “one of a kind” person. She was an avid flower gardener and enjoyed caring for her plants and animals. She was so loved and will be dearly missed by many.

Special and immense gratitude to her granddaughters, Constance Jones, Candis Navarro and Katrina Gill, her son Rhody Williams and Campassus Hospice who cared for her at the end of her life.
