After nearly two years, the Magic City Carnival Association (MCCA) will return in 2022 and the season kicks off Friday night, New Year’s Eve, with the royal court presentations ceremony.

The ceremony will be held at the American Legion headquarters, located at 63349 Louisiana Highway 10 in Bogalusa.

Doors will open Friday night at 6:45 p.m. and the royal court presentations will start at 7:30 p.m. During the ceremony, there will be the introduction of the 2022 Dukes and Maids, Pages, Attendants and Guards, as well as the unveiling of the MCCA King and Queen.

Guest tickets are available at $50 each at the Arata-Knight Law Offices, located at 316 Austin St.

A chaperoned children’s party will be held next door, following the presentations.

The attire for the ceremony is formal — guests are required to wear a coat and tie for men, and a cocktail dress or gown for women.

“Here we come, roaring back!” said MCCA Captain Don Spiers. “Thanks to COVID, it has been two years, but we are back! Be there and be a part of the return of Mardi Gras to Washington Parish!”

The MCCA XLI parade is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 26, 2022.

The coronation ball will be held on the evening of Saturday, Feb. 19, 2022. The parade will be the 41st in MCCA’s history, and 37 floats are expected to participate.
