The Bogalusa Police Department has received a grant in the amount of $43,197 from the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission, according to BPD Assistant Police Chief Percy Knight.

Knight said that the funds will be used to pay off-duty officers overtime to work traffic enforcement such as DWI, seatbelt violations and Juvenile Underage Drinking Enforcement (JUDE).

Through Jan. 1, 2022, the BPD will be working a special campaign as part of the grant called “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over,” to enforce drinking and driving during the holiday season.
