Arkansas State’s Norchad Omier averaged a double-double in back-to-back non-conference contests to earn the Sun Belt Men’s Basketball Player of the Week award

Red Wolves freshman forward Norchad Omier averaged 13.5 points and 11.5 rebounds per game as Arkansas State dropped a close battle to No. 25 Texas Tech, 75-62, and defeated Air Force, 68-46. The Bluefields, Nicaragua, native shot .611 from the field and added seven blocks on the week. Omier scored five points and pulled down seven boards at Texas Tech, then matched his career-high with 22 points against Air Force. He also registered a career-high six blocks—the most by a Red Wolves student-athlete since 2001—and collected his sixth double-double of the season against the Falcons.
