Franklinton High School names new football coach

Franklinton High School has named Guy LeCompte its head football coach.

“I think it’s a tremendous opportunity because of administrative support as well as the community support,” LeCompte said. ” (Franklinton Principal) Shane (Smith) was a tremendous competitor as a coach and he carries that same philosophy in his approach as a principal. He’s got a vision of making the school great and it’s an honor and a privilege to be part of that vision. I believe my best days in coaching are ahead of me.”

According to a press release, LeCompte brings 25 years of coaching experience.

“Most recently he has worked at Country Day in Metairie,” the release said. “He spent most of his time at Mandeville High School where he built the Skippers program into a consistently competitive program. Prior to that he was an assistant coach at Salmen and Parkview Baptist. His experience and philosophy for the development of players and all facets of the program make him the best fit for Franklinton High School and we look forward to what he will bring to our program.”

This is LeCompte’s fourth head coaching job.

LeCompte’s first head coaching job was at Mandeville (2006-16). His next head coaching job was at Holy Cross (2018-19) before spending the last two years at Metairie Park Country Day.

As an assistant, LeCompte was part of three state championships, all at Salmen. He was a defensive backs coach for two of the titles and the offensive coordinator for the other. As a head coach, LeCompte’s teams have reached the playoffs every season and have never had a losing season.

LeCompte’s teams have gone as far as the state semifinals. The three were at Mandeville in 2011, 2012 and 2015.

At Metairie Park Country Day, LeCompte’s group was district champion both years and Country Day went to the state quarterfinals both seasons.
