Georgia Southern junior forward Mya Burns charted a career day in leading her team to a record-setting win against Gardner-Webb and has been named the Sun Belt Women’s Basketball Player of the Week.

Burns tallied a career-high 24 points in directing the Eagles to a 121-105 victory against Gardner-Webb on Saturday. It eclipsed her previous career high of 20 points, set vs. FIU earlier this season.

Burns set the tone for Georgia Southern, which scored a then-school-record 121 points in the victory. And Burns’ three-pointer in the fourth quarter – her third trey of the day – marked the final record-breaking points for the Eagles. Georgia Southern on Monday eclipsed that school record with 133 points.

Georgia Southern is 8-2 on the year, which marks the most non-conference wins for the Eagles in a single season since the 1992-93 campaign.
