SLU facing James Madison in 2nd round

Southeastern Louisiana University will play in the second round of the FCS playoffs against James Madison on the road Saturday, Dec. 4 with kickoff set for 1 p.m.

The Lions have two players who played high school football in Washington Parish in 2016 Franklinton High School graduate Damien Dawson and 2019 Pine High School graduate Brendon Kelley.

Dawson is a fullback, while Kelley plays defensive line.

This season, Dawson has caught 14 passes for 114 yards and three touchdowns.

Kelley has recorded 16 tackles, 2.5 for a loss and a half of a sack.

No. 17 SLU (9-3) began the playoffs with a 38-14 win over Florida A&M University last Saturday.

The winner will face either No. 6 Montana or Eastern Washington.

No. 3 James Madison, who is 10-1, had a bye in the first round.
