District Missionary Maudine Johnson Conerly departed this life at her home in Franklinton on Nov. 27, 2021. Missionary Conerly was the fourth of 17 children. District Missionary Conerly met the love of her life, Elvester “LV” Conerly Sr., and they were joined in matrimony in the year 1945. To this union, 12 children were born.

After serving together at Lear’s Hill Church of God in Christ, then Brother and Sister Conerly moved their growing family to Magee’s Temple Church of God in Christ as founding members, under the leadership of late Superintendent Monroe Magee, in 1966. At Magee’s Temple, she worked tirelessly alongside her husband to make the church prosper. District Missionary Conerly worked in just about every auxiliary within the church. A Sunday School teacher, Prayer & Bible Band President, Sunshine Band, and Purity Worker, Home & Foreign Missions worker, and teacher of the gospel.

She leaves to cherish loving memories: seven loving children, Mrs. Donna Oliver (Westley), District Missionary Brenda Allbritton (Glynn), Ms. Ruby Brumfield, Ms. Mag Romar, Evangelist Fay Miller (Sam), Mrs. Helen Brooks (Wayman), and Elder Laride Conerly Sr. (Cynthia); special daughter, Missionary Bennie Jackson; 34 grandchildren; 62 great-grandchildren; 32 great-great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Mr. Charles Johnson; one sister, Ms. Doris Antione; one sister-in-law, District Missionary Hattie Conerly; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and the entire District Twelve C.O.G.I.C. Family.

A drive-through viewing will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 8, from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. at Crain and Sons Funeral Home in Franklinton.

The funeral service will be on Thursday, Dec. 9, at 11 a.m. at Magee’s Temple Church of God in Christ with Supt. Cecealine Tate, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in St. James Cemetery.
