On Sept. 28, the Bogalusa Police Department Violent Crimes Task Force conducted an investigation on Kordarrius Mingo, in reference to information that he was selling illegal narcotics.

According to BPD officials, the investigation resulted in the arrest of Mingo and a search warrant for his residence on William Peters Road. Officers reportedly located large quantities of various illegal narcotics and weapons at his residence. He was charged with a total of 18 violations — with most of those being felony narcotics and weapons violations. Mingo was out of jail on bond for a May felony domestic abuse battery charge at the time of that arrest, BPD officials said.

Shortly after being booked into the parish jail, Mingo made a court appearance. According to the District Attorney’s Office, the hearing was before District Judge Raymond Childress, who substantially reduced Mingo’s bond. This resulted in Mingo getting out of jail, and “getting back into his drug business” on Williams Peters Road, BPD officials said. After receiving information that Mingo was back in business, the Task Force reopened their investigation.

On Thursday, the Violent Crimes Task Force, along with members of the Criminal Patrol and Investigations Divisions, executed another search warrant at Mingo’s residence.

Inside the residence, officers reportedly located Mingo and almost three pounds of marijuana, 4.8 grams of heroin, an amount of Schedule IV narcotics, drug paraphernalia consistent with the packaging and sale of illegal narcotics, and a stolen 9mm handgun. Over $3,000 in cash — suspected proceeds of illegal narcotics sales — was also seized.

Mingo was charged with possession with intent to distribute heroin, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession with intent to distribute Schedule IV narcotics, possession of a stolen firearm, illegal carrying of a weapon while in possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a drug-free zone, possession of drug paraphernalia, transactions involving proceeds from drug offenses, and resisting an officer. The case will be forwarded to District Attorney Warren Montgomery’s Office for prosecution.

A post on the BPD’s Facebook page stated: “Mingo will again be booked into the Parish Jail. We can only hope he will stay awhile this time.”
