Coastal Carolina senior forward Aja Blount has led her team to a 6-0 start and is this week’s Sun Belt Women’s Basketball Player of the Week. It is her second career Sun Belt Player of the Week accolade.

In wins against UNC-Greensboro and East Tennessee State, Blount averaged a double-double with 13.0 points per game and 12.0 rebounds per game. She totaled 10 points and seven rebounds against UNCG and followed that up with her second double-double of the year against ETSU with 16 points and 17 boards. Blount averaged 34 minutes per game during that two-game stretch.

Over the course of the week, Blount reached the 500-rebound milestone for her career after having also recently eclipsed the 1,000-career-point mark.

Blount ranks second in the Sun Belt Conference in points per game (19.2) and rebounds per game (9.3).

The Chanticleers are off to their best start since the 2007-08 campaign when they opened the season 7-0.
